Formula feeders are
celebrating, breastfeeders are complaining. Me, well I’m thrilled to bits that
it suggests my first combination-fed child is probably going to be ok, but I’m
still 100% committed to breastfeeding the new baby anyway. It doesn’t change my
opinion of anything.

Breastfeeding benefits may or may not be overstated... another study into Breastfeeding
There is currently yet
another piece of Breastfeeding v Bottle Feeding research making headlines in
the media, this time a study of siblings, one breastfed, one bottle fed, that
concludes that on 11 different measures no difference was found between the two
in the long term.

Dinner with an old foe
I am a firm believer in surrounding yourself with the right
people, and gently removing people from your life who don’t support you, cause
you pain, drain you, turn you into a raving lunatic who wants to explode at the
mere mention of their name… I believe in forgiveness, but I also believe you
have to let those people go for the sake of your health.
But how do you do that when said person is the wife of one
of your husband’s closest friends, and who has ingratiated herself into your
circle of friends? That’s the part I’m struggling with.
I wish her no harm, in fact I wish her well. Genuinely. But
I don’t want her in my life. There have been too many lies. Too many times she
has driven me half insane with her behaviour. And believe me, I have tried for
years to make things work; to find common ground, to focus on the good, to
understand her and put myself in her shoes. Literally years. But I can’t do anymore.
When I see her on a regular basis it turns me into someone I don’t like, I
dwell on things she does, I moan about her, I bitch behind her back. It eats me
up. It poisons me.

The Introverted Mummy
I've been struggling with how to write this post for a while. It's a tricky one to verbalise.
You see I’ve
always known I was an introvert, but I kind of expected myself to behave
differently as a mother, to force myself to behave how a mother "should" behave
and just not be introverted somehow. I
struggled and it had a knock on effect on my confidence.

One little article, so many questions…
More stories abound in the press today warning us women that
we should have our babies by 35 or risk sleepless nights regretting never
having children.
Oh my bloody god, at 37 I’m a lost cause aren’t I? Why do I even read these articles anymore!

How to improve breastfeeding rates - in my opinion
Breastfeeding is never out of the news these days is it? Right now the media is busy barking on about how rates are falling in the UK, followed up the next day with a timely report about how babies that are breastfed go on to become better social climbers (like that is going to turn the figures around!)

And now for the science
This piece of research caught my eye last week: "Mothers to be should be aware of unintentional chemical exposure". Understandably it's create quite a stir within the media and right now, since I'm trying for a baby, I have a tendency to cling onto any piece of information that might improve my chances.

Rock of Ages - Still Rolling...
It was our wedding anniversary at the weekend
and so we left Taters with his grandparents and took a trip out to the cinema. Just
being in the cinema is a treat in itself since it’s not something we indulge in
too often these days, but the film we saw, Rock of Ages, my god I loved it!
